Terms and Conditions of Use

These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the website of the Journal of Experimental and Clinical Anatomy (JECA), available at:

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, together with the journal’s Privacy Policy, Copyright and Licensing Policy, and any other policies, notices, or guidelines posted on the Site. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you should not use the Site.

1. About the Site

The Site is operated on behalf of the Journal of Experimental and Clinical Anatomy (JECA), the official publication of the Society of Experimental and Clinical Anatomists of Nigeria (SECAN).

The Site provides access to journal information, author guidelines, editorial policies, published content, and related scholarly publishing services.

2. Changes to These Terms

JECA reserves the right to revise, amend, update, or replace these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

Unless otherwise stated, published journal articles are subject to the journal’s Open Access and Licensing Policy and the applicable Creative Commons license stated on the article.

Other website content, including site design, branding, logos, and administrative materials, remains the property of JECA, SECAN, or their licensors unless otherwise stated.

You may access and use Site content for lawful personal, educational, research, informational, or non-commercial scholarly purposes, subject to applicable copyright and licensing terms.

You may not, except where permitted by law or by the applicable license:

  • reproduce, modify, republish, distribute, transmit, sell, or commercially exploit non-article website content without prior written permission;
  • remove copyright, attribution, trademark, or proprietary notices;
  • falsely imply endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship by JECA;
  • use journal branding, logos, or trademarks without authorization.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others, restrict or inhibit the use of the Site by any other person, or compromise the integrity or security of the Site.

  • introduce viruses, malware, malicious code, or other harmful material;

  • misuse account credentials or impersonate another person or entity;
  • use the Site for unauthorized advertising, solicitation, or commercial promotion.

JECA reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Site where these Terms are breached or where necessary to protect the Site, its users, or the journal’s operations.

5. Automated Access, Scraping, and Security

You may not use robots, crawlers, scrapers, data-mining tools, or similar automated means to access, extract, harvest, index, or monitor Site content or personal data, except where such activity is expressly permitted by law, by the applicable content license, or by written permission from JECA.

You must not:

  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any connected system;

JECA reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review, refuse, edit, or remove user-submitted content at its discretion.

8. Notification of Infringement

JECA may provide article metadata and content to indexing, abstracting, archiving, and discovery services as part of normal scholarly dissemination.

Third-party indexing services operate independently, and JECA does not control their inclusion criteria, processing times, display formats, or technical systems. Questions regarding the status of listing in a particular indexing or abstracting service should be directed to the relevant service provider.

16. Additional Terms

Additional terms may apply to specific services, submission systems, author agreements, reviewer processes, or journal features. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and Conditions and specific terms applicable to a particular service or agreement, the specific terms shall prevail for that service or agreement.

17. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to the journal’s governing entity, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

If you wish, this clause may be expanded to specify the governing jurisdiction once confirmed by JECA/SECAN.
