Authors retain copyright in their articles published in JECA.

Open Access License

All articles published in JECA are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

This license permits users to:

  • copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and
  • remix, transform, and build upon the material,

provided that:

  • appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source;
  • a link to the license is provided;
  • any changes made are indicated;
  • the material is not used for commercial purposes; and

Submission Declaration

Submission of a manuscript to JECA constitutes a declaration by the authors that:

  • the manuscript is original;
  • it has not been published previously, in whole or in part, except as disclosed by the authors;
  • it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere;
  • all authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript;
  • all authors agree to its submission to JECA; and
  • the manuscript does not infringe the copyright or other rights of any third party.

Author Declaration and License to Publish

Upon acceptance of a manuscript, all authors will be required to complete and sign an Author Declaration and License to Publish Agreement.

Under this agreement, authors retain copyright in their work and grant JECA and its publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to:

  • publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and store the article in all media and formats now known or later developed;
  • identify JECA as the original publisher of the work;
  • include the article in print and electronic editions, archives, repositories, indexing services, and databases;
  • create and disseminate abstracts, summaries, extracts, metadata, and citations;
  • translate the article into other languages, where appropriate;
  • reproduce and distribute reprints or copies of the published article; and
  • authorize third parties to preserve, index, reproduce, and distribute the article in accordance with the article’s applicable Creative Commons license.

Any reuse of JECA content must comply with the terms of the applicable Creative Commons license.

Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any third-party material included in their manuscript where such permission is required. This includes, but is not limited to, photographs, figures, tables, illustrations, and substantial text extracts.

Where third-party material is not covered by the article’s Creative Commons license, this must be clearly indicated in the published article, and users must obtain permission directly from the copyright holder for any reuse beyond what is permitted by law.
